UITP

Since 1885, the International Association of  Public Transport (UITP) has been the international network for public transport authorities and operators, policy decision makers, scientific institutes and the public transport supply and service industry. UITP is the global advocate of public transport and sustainable mobility, and the promoter of innovations in the sector and a platform for worldwide cooperation, business development and the sharing of know-how.

Although it is a worldwide association, thanks to its international organisation and relevant membership, UITP is recognised by the EU institutions as an association representative of the urban, suburban, and regional passenger public transport operators, organising authorities and industries. UITP is active in the three major pillars handled by the European Commission: Legislation, Standardisation and Research and Innovation.

Role in PIONEERS:

UITP will have a strong contribution in the facilitation of cross-cooperation activities between sister projects, facilitating community building. UITP will also participate in the definition of scenarios and use cases, with special focus in connection between Ports operation and multimodal urban mobility.
