Port of Constanta workshop on Green Port Master Plan

Port of Constanta workshop on Green Port Master Plan

On March 21, 2024, the Port of Constanta hosted a dynamic workshop dedicated to analyzing and revising its first version of the Green Port Master Plan.

Gathering representatives from the port community, environmental authorities, and local stakeholders, the workshop delved into crucial topics such as Constanta Port’s role as a green logistics centre, navigating freight traffic amidst geopolitical challenges (Russia-Ukraine war), and meeting European Commission directives on alternative fuels infrastructure (AFIR) and maritime fuel (Fuel EU) regulations.

The barriers and opportunities related to the energy transition and digital transformation within the Port of Constanta were also discussed. At the heart of the discussions was the recognition that sustainable development requires collaboration and engagement from all stakeholders.

The Green Port Master Plan (GPMP) is a dynamic roadmap that aims to guide ports towards carbon neutrality and sustainable development, working as a catalyst for positive change across the EU, setting new environmental standards and influencing EU policies. Within PIONEERS, the GPMP will be built on the individual master plans developed by the ports of Antwerp-Bruges, Barcelona, Constanta and Venlo. The process is collaborative and iterative, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive approach.
