PIONEERS attended AIVP World Conference Cities & Ports with participation in the session dedicated to “Ports and Cities for the Energy Transition” (12th May, 4:15 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.).
Giannis Kannellopoulos (ICCS) – scientific and technical manager within the PIONEERS project – took part in the round table of the session deepening with the other top-tier speakers the role of ports as energy hubs and community builders to design and implement a sustainable development for port cities.
Indeed the AIVP World Conference Cities & Ports was a unique opportunity to discuss the challenge of designing a port city with sustainable development, sharing challenges, getting inspiration and creating networks with partners. With the concept of “Inspiring Blue Futures”, AIVP aimed to highlight the importance of port cities and several subjects for the future of our societies, our economy and our environment.
The PIONEERS project is aligned with these objectives since the project addresses the challenges faced by European ports to reduce their environmental impact while remaining competitive in a sector characterised by continuous growth, with the aim to make Europe climate neutral by 2050.
