PIONEERS at Smart City Expo World Congress 2023

Smart City Expo World Congress is the world’s largest and most influential event on urban innovation. This year’s edition is scheduled to be held in Barcelona, Spain, from November 7th to 9th, 2023.

The conference serves as a platform to connect leaders from the most innovative companies, governments and organizations to drive cities towards a better future.

PIONEERS partners are excited to actively contribute to the event. Join Pieter Vandermeeren, Green Port Master Planner from Port of Antwerp-Bruges, and other industry experts at the panel session “Driving Sustainable and Intelligent Maritime Transport” on November 8th, from 11:30 to 12:15, to discuss about innovative technologies, alternative fuels, and digitalization’s role in optimizing efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

We also invite you to visit the project’s booth at the Tomorrow Blue Economy plaza, in Hall 2, and explore the 19 PIONEERS demonstrators.

Within the framework of the Smart City Expo World Congress, other events will take place, such as the “Smart Ports: Piers of the Future” event. Themed Sailing Towards Innovation, the event unites experts in sustainability, innovation, and port tech to shape the port of tomorrow. Eight major ports, including Antwerp-Bruges, Barcelona, Busan, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Los Angeles, Montreal, and Rotterdam, along with Vancouver Port and Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, are participating.

This edition features an “Innovation Zone” within the Smart Ports and Tomorrow.BlueEconomy booths, comprising eight exhibition stands for emerging companies and innovation centers aligned with each port’s ecosystem. The Tomorrow.BlueEconomy agora hosts the Tech Tour Blue Economy event on November 7th and 8th, organized by Tech Tour, enhancing the discussion on the future of port technology and sustainability.
