PIONEERS and MAGPIE’s joint session at ESPO Conference 2022

Under the theme “Empowering Europe’s ports”, the 18th edition of the ESPO Conference was hosted by the Port of Valencia, Spain, from 2 to 3 June. The Conference focused on the most relevant challenges for the port industry in the near future, deepening the role of EU ports in the supply chain of tomorrow according to the new trade patterns and the new energy landscape.

The Horizon2020 Green Deal winning “Green Port” projects, PIONEERS & MAGPIE, took part in the ESPO Conference by organising a joint session. Both project coordinators, Inge de Wolf – PIONEERS, and Arne-Jan Polman – MAGPIE, shared insightful information about each project, describing the objectives and the innovative solutions implemented so far.

The two green ports projects had the opportunity to discuss with participants of the breakout session some key points, such as the challenges to build a Masterplan for the European Green Port of the Future, the replication and scaling up of the innovations to the fellow ports and the engagement of the stakeholder community in the path to the new Smart Green Port.
