Maastricht University is the most international university in The Netherlands and the researchers at the UM work in multidisciplinary teams and close cooperation with international institutes and industry. However, besides the top-ranked educational programs, dedicated researchers who publish in top international journals, and an established PhD program, there is also an executive development department (UMIO) which collaborates with organisations to ‘valorise’ scientific knowledge and to co-create new insights.
The Brightlands Institute for Supply Chain Innovations (BISCI) develops smart and sustainable innovations in supply chain management. In addition, the institute trains the next generation of professionals who can contribute to supply chain innovation in the industry. BISCI derives its strength from closely collaborating with partners in the public, private and community sectors.
Role in PIONEERS:
Maastricht University will be mainly involved in three work packages. In WP2, UM will be involved in the integration of the Master Plan in the Strategic Planning Cycles of the PIONEERS ports and in WP8, UM will play a crucial role in the adaptation and application of the Innovation and Implementation Framework for co-transferability and the first and second wave of demonstrations. Moreover, in WP9, UM will be involved in the quantification of the Lighthouse port.
