FLEMISH DEPARTMENTS OF MOBILITY AND PUBLIC WORKS AND OF ENVIRONMENT

The Flemish Department of Mobility and Public Works (DMOW) is responsible for creating a long-term vision on sustainable mobility in the Flemish region, for monitoring and implementing the regional mobility policy. It supports the policy of the Flemish minister responsible for mobility and public works and supports the management and exploitation of the Flemish transport and port infrastructure.

The Flemish Department of Mobility and Public Works plays a coordinating role in following-up the European transport policy. Moreover, it is responsible for both the legislation concerning spatial planning and environmental themes such as air quality, noise pollution, climate change and air emissions. The department focuses on transitioning space and environment towards a more sustainable future. Therefore, it plays an active role in (amongst others) large scale economic and mobility planning processes.

Role in PIONEERS:

The Flemish Departments of Mobility and Public Works and of Environment will follow up on the global project, with focus on dissemination of the results to other ports and partners in Flanders, as well as sharing knowledge and experience. They will also contribute to task WP 4.1 on the tackling of non-technological barriers.
