Exploring Green Port Master Plans with PIONEERS

On December 19, 2023, Inge de Wolf, the PIONEERS project coordinator, and Arne-Jan Polman, the MAGPIE project coordinator, engaged C-MAT students in a dynamic session at the University of Antwerp.

The workshop kicked off with an insightful presentation on both projects, showcasing their impact on shaping the future of energy transition. The focus of the session was on the Green Port Master Plans (GPMP) and their impact on the future of ports.

The students actively participated in the challenges on how to maximise the impact of Green Port Master Plans, leading to a deep dive into the root causes. Using the STEEP (Sociological, Technological, Economical, Environmental, and Political) framework, they mapped out the obstacles.

This session provided a great opportunity to showcase the unique perspectives of both projects, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the port ecosystem. Together, they explored strategies to ensure that the Green Port Masterplans are translated into tangible impacts on the industry.

A special thanks to Thierry Vanelslander for the kind invitation.
